RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEXT AND PHYSICAL ACTIONS

A 3 week workshop led by Tage Larsen and Donald Kitt (Odin Teatret)

The workshop deals with a particular physical approach to text and the text's presentation and is based on a dynamic, visual and sound preparation of an actor through physical and vocal training. The training explores and challenges the actors' physical ability, imagination, and capacity to create and mould expressions. The actors learn exercises and then begin to create some of their own. A personal set of actions is linked together to be repeated in various ways, working on space, rhythm, volume, resistance, opposition, colours and humour. Improvisations and compositions are fixed and refined in their physical form and then confronted with a text. The texts are chosen by the participants: something they are eager to explore and transmit.

The participants will work on scenes that will be presented at Odin Teatret and other places in town. Tage Larsen will also present the experiences of the Holstebro Festuge (the Festive Week) and Odin Teatret's work in the local community.

    For 16 participants

Needs: Each participant is required to learn by heart 2 texts before coming to the workshop: one monologue and one dialogue that you find interesting to perform. Print out your texts in your own language, but remember to bring one copy in English as well.

You are also requested to learn a text for voice training (an easy flowing text, around 40 - 50 words)

Last but not least, you should prepare a song and bring with you eventually a musical instrument.

Language: The workshop will be conducted in English. Tage Larsen can communicate with the participants in Italian, Spanish, Danish and French.

Applications must reach Odin Teatret by September the 28, 2012 and a selection of participants will be made by October the 12. The application form below must be addressed to odin@odinteatret.dk , attention Nathalie Jabalé, and marked TEXT AND PHYSICAL ACTIONS.
