VÆKSTHUS
in Odin Teatret's
greenhouse
Væksthus is an installation - narration that invites
the spectator to experience the unusual dialogue that takes place
in between the time of seeing and the time of listening. The
installation was born from the desire of discovering Odin Teatret
by entering, little by little, into the most intimate work rooms,
meeting the actors, the director, the spectators and the
performance. Along the way, the photographs mark the spaces, while
the voices suggest the passing of time.
Guided by these evocations, we move into Odin Teatret's ensemble
performance "The Chronic Life", getting to know stories that belong
on and off stage, among people who undress and characters
that put clothes on, among the dances of the actor and those of the
director who welcomes us spectators and turns us into his alter
ego.
Underlying everywhere is a sense of cultivation, of
væksthus, of greenhouse, the name given to a work space in
Holstebro, an inhabited landscape of life at the theatre.
Everyone looks for something precious to cultivate. The author
of this installation does so too, suggesting a starting point and a
course to follow, but leaving the traveller to decide the
conclusion of the journey, by building a fourth wall that raises in
front of the spectators and leaves them to reflect about themselves
and their own personal history.
