RIOTOUS COMPANY
Riotous Company is a crossover theatre of stories, music, pictures,
poetry and dance founded by artistic director Mia Theil Have in
close collaboration with patron Kathryn Hunter, composer Nikola
Kodjabashia, designer Luis F. Carvalho, director Tage Larsen and a
team of associate artists. Riotous Company is a registered UK
charity.
Recently Riotous premiered hit musical 'PENELOPE X' by Nikola
Kodjabashia and Venko Andonovski (Balkanika Literary Award
Laureate) directed by Mia Theil Have, co-produced with The National
Opera and Ballet of Macedonia, continued collaborations with The
Freedom Theatre in Palestine, created and toured internationally
with the acclaimed dance theatre piece 'INSOMNIA a pas de deux
drama for two girls and a piano man', directed by Tage Larsen, in
association with Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium.
Upcoming productions include 'BLIXEN' directed by Olivier Award
winning Kathryn Hunter in co-production with Print Room at the
Coronet London, 'SCHERZO for piano and stick' directed by Tage
Larsen, in association with Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium,
'DIVERTIMENTO for rope and strings', directed by Mia Theil Have, as
well at the new opera 'UNQUIET' by the RPS Awarded team behind 'We
Are Shadows' (5* The Times).

Current projects include Out Of Blixen, directed by and starring
Kathryn Hunter; Scherzo for piano and stick, with Mia Theil Have
and Nikola Kodjabashia directed by Tage Larsen, and Unquiet, a
new opera for teenagers in development devised by the RPS
Award-winning creative team behind We Are Shadows (5*The
Times).

Mia
Theil Have is the founder and Artistic Director of Riotous
Company. As a director Mia received the Royal Philharmonic
Society Award together with the 'We Are Shadows' team in 2011, and
was selected for Teatertreffen, Berlin 2009 as well as The
Operating Table, Royal Opera House 2009. Theatre/opera direction
includes: 'Penelope X' (National Opera and Ballet of Macedonia),
'Sarha' (Guimaraes 2012 European Capital of Culture and The Freedom
Theatre Palestine), 'Bodas de Sangre' (Havana International Theatre
Festival, Cuba), 'Carnival over the Rainbow', 'Feast Kakhulu'
(Hilton Arts Festival in South Africa), 'The Caucasian Chalk
Circle' (Aarohan Theatre, Kathmandu and 14th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

Festival), 'The Third Man' (Secret Cinema, Farmiloe Building). In
London Mia has collaborated with Helen Chadwick and Steven Hoggett
(Dalston Songs, Royal Opera House, 'War Correspondents', National
Theatre Studio), Walter Meierjohann (associate director on 'Kafka's
Monkey', Young Vic and international tour 2009-15, AD on 'The
Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui', Liverpool Playhouse, movement
director on 'Romeo & Juliet', HOME Manchester), and as an
associate director to Kathryn Hunter on Told by an Idiot's
acclaimed 'My Perfect Mind'.

Mia formed
part of ISTA (International School of Theatre Anthropology) and the
core ensemble at Odin Teatret in Denmark acting in four of Eugenio
Barba's main performances including Ophelia in 'Ur-Hamlet' at
Elsinore Castle in 2006. She recently devised and toured 'Insomnia
a pas de deux drama for two girls and a piano man' in the UK and
internationally, and is currently performing as Melisande's Double
in Katie Mitchell's production of 'Pelleas et Melisande' at the
Aix-en-Provence Festival.

Nikola has scored music for numerous internationally acclaimed and
award winning theatre productions in the UK and internationally.

Other commissions include scores for La Biennale di Venezia 2004,
BBC Singers 2010, numerous scores for BBC TV and Radio 2005/10 as
well as The National Theatre 2002/3. His music is released by ReR,
described by the Guardian as "one of the most adventurous and
coherent of avant-rock labels."
Luis F. Carvalho is born and brought up in
Portugal, and came to London in 1991 to follow his passion and
study Theatre Design. He has first-class honours degrees in
Theatre/Film Design and Women's-Wear Fashion Design from Wimbledon
School of Art and Central Saint Martins College respectively. Since
graduating, Luis has worked extensively in the theatre and fashion
industry and in 2012 set up 'Riotous Company' with co-founders Mia
Theil Have and Nikola Kodjabashia.
